Calling all young theatre makers – an exciting opportunity to take part in workshops and perform at Arcola Theatre!

Fifth Word is looking for a group of young people to collaborate in a theatre project aimed to raise awareness of child sexual exploitation. Young people will work with professional theatre practitioners to devise their own creative response to Fifth Word’s award winning production ‘All the Little Lights’ by Jane Upton.

You will perform your own scenes on the set of ‘All the little lights’ at Arcola theatre for your community to watch this October half term!

We are looking for young people aged 14-19 who have an interest in theatre and are keen to explore urgent social themes through art, develop their own skills and confidence in a professional setting, and meet other budding artists. You do not need theatre experience to join in, everyone is welcome! The workshops and production are FREE to participate.

The first stage of the process is watching the professional production ‘All the Little Lights’ for FREE, followed by a post show discussion with the actors and our charity partner Safe and Sound. The second stage include generating ideas, creating scenes and performing at a sharing taking place at Arcola Theatre .

You can sign up for the workshops HERE

Workshops will be held at Arcola Theatre on the following dates (you need to attend BOTH days):

• Wednesday 25 October 10am – 5pm

• Thursday 26 October 1pm – 5.30pm (Sharing takes place at 5pm)
  • Please note there is strictly limited capacity and places will be allocated on first come first served basis - however priority entry will be given to young people ages 14-19 who live or study in Hackney.

If you want to make theatre on issues that matter to young people and gain insights into a cutting-edge new professional theatre show, this exciting new project is for you!
